Everyone knows that their dentist can clean their teeth and fill cavities. But there are many other specialized dental services you’ve probably never heard of. Here are just some of the additional treatments we offer here at Jackson Smiles Family Dentistry:
1. Gum Therapy
Gum therapy is important because it helps prevent gingivitis and gum disease, which can lead to tooth loss if left untreated. Gum loss is caused by a bacterial infection, but the good news is that it’s possible to reverse the damage. If you suffer from tender, swollen, or bleeding gums; loose teeth; tooth sensitivity; or persistent bad breath, you might be in need of gum therapy.
At Jackson Smiles Family Dentistry we offer an array of periodontal treatments. Dr. Patel will perform an examination of your gum health and recommend one of the following courses of treatment.
- Scaling & Root Planing is also known as deep cleaning. It’s a non-surgical way to remove any bacteria and tartar, in addition to smoothing out rough spots on the roots of teeth where bacteria could get trapped.
- Arestin® Topical Gum Treatment is an antibiotic topical treatment that’s applied directly to your gums in a fast and painless procedure to kill off harmful bacteria.
- Laser Gum Therapy uses a laser to target infected areas and remove any damaged tissue. It is a quick and painless procedure with a speedy recovery time.
2. Sleep Apnea Treatment
Sleep apnea disrupts the sleep of millions of adults who wake up gasping for air or stop breathing periodically throughout the night due to a blocked airway. Snoring is also a common side effect of sleep apnea. Dr. Patel can work with you to find the cause of your sleep apnea and correct it.
3. Bruxism Treatment
Bruxism, also know as grinding one’s teeth while sleeping, can wear down teeth and cause pain and discomfort. To prevent this, Dr. Patel will give you a specially formed nightguard, which prevents your upper and lower teeth from grinding against each other.
4. Invisailgn
Invisalign serves the same function as traditional braces, but instead of unsightly metal tracks and bands it uses a series of nearly invisible custom-made clear aligners to gradually move teeth into position. It’s a convenient and appealing way for adults and teens to straighten their teeth.
